Speak&Translate is great for speech recognition and translation. Select your two languages from a sidebar, tap the flag of the language you speak and say whatever it is you want translated. The app will then show on the screen what it heard you say and read out a translation, which it also displays onscreen. One of the major benefits of this translation app is that it offers different dialects of the same language - there are four versions of English available, and two each of French, Spanish and Portuguese. Much better The UI is also aesthetically pleasing and easy to use. The only serious limitation is in the range of languages available - we couldn't test any of the Indian languages - and that the voice is very robotic. Bizarrely, it also lists Afrikaans as 'African'. Download Google Translate for Chrome for Windows now from Softonic: 100% safe and virus free. More than 6979 downloads this month. Download Google Translate for Chrome latest version 2018. Also of note is the fact that Speak&Translate struggled with longer, more complex sentences. However, for simple 'phrasebook'-style translations it can't be faulted, and the accuracy of the translation is also extremely high. Best free translation app all-rounder Bing Translator: Windows Phone. Bing Translator was far and away the best all-in-one free translation app we tried; it's disappointing that it's only available on Windows Phone. The app takes phrases for translation via the keyboard, camera and voice recognition, and offline packs can be downloaded and accessed if you have no internet connection - handy for when you're travelling. Also, while not as comprehensive as Google Translate's list of languages, it has a solid selection available, encompassing a good geographical range. No translation app is going to be 100% flawless. In Translate Pro, our comment to our Finnish co-tester that North Korea reportedly claiming to have won the World Cup was 'mental' was translated as 'spiritual', while thanks to Google Translate we told our Turkish co-tester someone had a court date, rather than a “trial” in the sense of testing something. Although we found that most of the results from the apps and online tools tested gave you the gist of what you were trying to translate, as opposed to something that was grammatically perfect, when you consider the output of machine translation in the past, it’s a testament to how far the technology has come that these were the only howlers. How we tested the best free translation apps PC Pro tested a range of apps on iOS, Android and Windows Phone with a native UK English speaker talking (and typing) to native Arabic, Finnish, French, Hindi, Kannada, Spanish, Tamil, Telugu and Turkish speakers. We chose these languages to make sure there was a good range of writing systems and grammar tested. All apps were tested in the above nine languages, providing the target language was available, in order to test on a level playing field and find the ones we think work best. No logographic languages (such as Japanese or Mandarin) were tested, as we were unable to find a native speaker in time for our trial. Machine translation is hard. Fluent speakers sometimes spot howlers, and there are subtleties and nuances that even powerful computers cannot fathom— yet. But online and app-based translation is also getting better. Last December, Skype demonstrated a tool to enable live, instant English to Spanish translation on a video call. Windows Phone owners can sign up for the Translator Preview programme. And there are several apps out there already that will stop you getting flummoxed on your next trip. The latest update to Google’s translation tool is a major one. Google’s 2014 purchase of the Word Lens app has been built in as a “visual translation” function. Point your smartphone camera at some text and an instant English translation appears on-screen. Visual translation currently supports 6 languages, including French, Italian and Russian, and works without a data connection. Simultaneous speech mode is another upgrade. Select a pair of languages, tap the mic symbol and Google automatically translates whatever it hears in either language into the other. Offline voice translation works on Android phones only. For iPhone users, Yandex Translate (free; ) offers offline translation of Russian, French, German, Italian and Spanish. ITranslate Android, iOS, Windows Phone; free It’s hard to beat Google’s revamped app, but iTranslate still has plenty going for it. The interface is clear and simple, and there’s an option to save phrases for later—handy if you know the situations you’ll be finding yourself in ahead of time. You can type or speak English text and iTranslate converts into any of 80 languages, and will even speak the pronunciation back to you in several, including Chinese, Polish and Turkish. In a quiet room, its speech recognition was accurate during my test. The app requires an internet connection. A Google Translate screen grab WayGo Android, iOS; free for 10 translations per day, £4 for unlimited version Google’s visual translation tool does not currently work with Chinese, Japanese or Korean text, but WayGo does.

A software updater is a program you install on your computer to help you keep all your other software updated to their latest. Install one of these software updaters and it will first automatically identify all of your software and then determine if an update is available. Then, depending on the updater, will either point you to the newer download on the developer's site or maybe even do the downloading and updating for you! Note: By no means do you have to use a software updater to update your outdated software. Checking for a new version yourself, and then downloading and updating manually, is certainly an option. However, a software updater makes the process really easy. Popular Alternatives to Picasa for Windows, Mac, Web, Android, iPhone and more. In all but the Sneaky line, you get a choice of two models: the straight DS player, ready to be connected to an integrated amp or preamp, or the DSM version complete with analogue and digital inputs, and designed to be used straight into a power amp. You can even use mutiple DS units to deliver whole-house music, with a Songcast feature allowing them all to be synchronised to play the same content in all rooms. Those ten players are an indication of Linn's growing commitment to streaming music since it famously announced it was discontinuing CD player production, and it's something the company backs up across the board. In-house hi-res recordings Its in-house label, for example, offers a range of high-resolution recordings for download at resolutions up to 192kHz/24-bit, and as well as its own excellent Studio Master offerings is now acting as a hub for downloads from other labels. It's recently started offering titles from the Universal Music catalogue, including classic Decca releases. The story continues with three-320kbps Internet radio stations that showcase Linn’s mostly jazz and classical catalogue, and which of course can be played, along with all those hi-res downloads, by the Akurate DS. This unit is compatible with most file types, including WAV, FLAC and ALAC (otherwise known as Apple Lossless) up to 24Bit/192kHz, and can stream them from any UPnP storage device. But unlike most rivals, the DS won't let you plug in USB storage devices, which is a shame, and neither does it have connectivity for iPods, iPhones and the like. Oh, and Linn doesn't do wireless, believing a wired Ethernet connection is the route to the most stable music streaming. So as a minimum you're going to need a NAS device and a router to 'feed' the Akurate DS, or preferably a 'closed' system for music, using a NAS device and an network switch device. On the upside, though, you get Internet radio – all the better to enjoy Linn’s radio stations – and the ability to control volume via the media player’s XLR or single-ended outputs. So you could build a minimalist system around the Akurate DS, directly feeding a power amp such as the, and then on to a pair of matching Akurate speakers. We tested the Akurate DS with the preamp, that power amp, and a pair of speakers. Clean, precise sound The sound here is very clean and precise, not always resulting in the most relaxed listen, but giving the overall presentation an impressively stable structure. Taking advantage of Linn’s high-res downloads – we used, played by Artur Pizzaro and the Scottish Chamber Orchestra under Sir Charles Mackerras, in 192kHz/24-bit – the Akurate DS has all the delicacy and refinement even the most critical of listeners could demand. And it combines that with a mass of harmonic detail conventional 16bit/44.1kHz recordings could never capture: this power, precision and composure is deeply impressive, as is the sense of space around instrumental threads. Move on to a 44.1kHz/16-bit - ie CD-quality – recordings and there’s an expected drop in overall resolution and refinement, but the sonic signature doesn’t change. There's punch and a tight grip on the bass, with high levels of insight coupled to exceptional control and authority. This is an impressive streaming player, trading features for a confident, involving sound, and really showing the advantages of those hi-res recordings Linn champions so well. I could not remove my account from the phone, android said it was required when I tried to and that the only way to do it was to restore to factory defaults. I signed into another account in android market, it was the only way I could think to sign out of android market. Not only did it not work when I signed back into the original account but I recieved the same error while attempting to download from my alternative account. I was not willing to let it take it's time to sort itself out. I tried wiping my dalvik in cwm which also did not work for me. I think that is all the suggestions for it from the $hEvRoN rom thread none of them worked for me but this did. Thanks brother man. Thank you sooooo much, not only do I no longer get that google talk verification error, but it fixed so many minor errors. Updates work all the time rather than when they feel like it. Mail pushes to my phone as soon as I get the e-mail in my e-mail box rather than sporadically. The Market app no longer has any odd errors downloading new apps. After this I decided to try out this same method on my SMS app since my MMS wasn't working properly (not at all, no sending, no receiving). So I forced the app closed, cleared the data, restarted, and sent a test picture; and for the first time in a month I could send picture messeges again! Thanks a ton for helping me, a bunch of other people, and many still to come. This is what works best for me Go to Settings->Applications->Manage->Running - Click Market - Then Clear Cache (NOT CLEAR DATA!!!!) - Then Force Stop - Click Google Services Framework - Click Clear Data - Click Force Stop Then reboot your phone. If for some odd reason this still doesn't fix it what you can do is remove you current google account by using root explorer and going to /data/system and rename accounts.db to accounts.db.bak, this will remove you current google account. Simply reboot the phone after doing this and add your google account again upon opening up the market app. My phone was working fine with my Google Apps Domain account but then I had to change my Google password on my PC. A little while later, I get a Google Talk Authentication Failed notification message. When I click on it, I get a Retry or a Cancel option. Neither of which allows me to enter the new password. I have tried the steps above but still exactly the same issue. We took everything you loved about Norton Internet Security, and added better protection.
